February Floods

Cache River. Beedeville, Arkansas. Feb 2022.

I am in awe of both the grandeur and force of nature as I watch the rising Cache River and winter evening sunsets this month. I also think about what life teaches us through the inevitable ups and downs we encounter over the years.

Mother nature can be both challenging and inspiring.

So can life. Glad we have folks around to help us chart the course.

While I didn’t know Thomas Edison personally, he was one of the people I learned about sitting in a small history class in Northeast Arkansas. We studied using the light bulb he invented. My teenage friends and I mostly enjoyed the phonograph (record player) and movie camera that brought music and far-away places into our high-school dances and the local Victory Theatre.

Despite acquiring over 1,200 patents during his lifetime, Edison is reportedly best known for his observation that,

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

Mr. Edison broke new ground throughout his life, and attributed it not to his intellect but to his persistence. Simple hard work. Looking at possibilities around every corner.

As we start this new year with B & B Legacy Farms, I am listening to the counsel of people I admire who look ahead and work to change the quality of life for others.

President Nelson Mandela advised us all,

We all know people like this. People we admire. People who work to change the day-to-day lives of others in both small and large ways.

Improving and expanding nutritious, high-protein food options for our children and families is indeed possible with soy growing all around us!

Thanks for following B & B as we begin 2022, clearing a path for the inclusion of whole soy foods at every table.

Note to self: Plan to fall down, get back up, and keep a sense of humor this year.

 Happy February!
