Who We Are

Karen Keller Ballard

B & B Legacy Farms, LLC is a business that started with a problem and resulted in a new calling.

Beginning as a co-founder, I currently serve as the chief executive officer. With a small family start-up business this means I do whatever needs to be done.

Born and raised in Northeast Arkansas, every generation of my family has been involved in farming or supported farmers through their ag business careers. For the last 20 years I have worked in support of Arkansas agriculture through university outreach. In collaboration with the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board I helped to create the Arkansas Soybean Science Challenge. My work with the Soybean Science Challenge increased my understanding of the nutritional value of whole soy foods. I was born and raised in the Arkansas Delta. Grew up in Weiner, Arkansas surrounded by soybean fields; but rarely ate soy. A health issue taught me the value of this high-quality, plant-based protein in my personal diet. B & B is increasing access to soy foods for others as well now, and will provide expanded market opportunities for soybean farmers.

I love the country. There is nothing like a Delta sunset across a field.  It is a connection to something bigger and better than most things in life.

Welcome to the farm!

Welcome to the farm that my family have worked for 94 years.

I picked cotton in the same fields that now produce soybeans, rice, corn, and milo on a rotational basis.

I serve as chief financial officer for B & B Legacy Farms, LLC. Other duties include carrying boxes and fulfilling orders.

My background is in health care, with the last 36 years spent in service to US veterans.

The Hounds. Sweet Thing, Dot and Lady!

Every farm needs some hound dogs. These Running Walker hounds have been known to chase a deer or two!

They have a howl that is not soon forgotten.
