Welcome to May in Arkansas

Lots to celebrate this past month for our family!

At the end of April family and friends joined us for the wedding of our daughter Lauren. New beginnings are always a mixture of frenzy and fun and this wedding was both. We are so happy to welcome Stewart to our family.

May came in with a bang and has delivered frequent showers and storms resulting in beautiful flowers and awe-inspiring sunsets on the farm.

Was glad to have this storm cellar in sight during May!

While rain delayed planting this year, it is great for the water table.  Planting soybeans had to be put off a few weeks until the sky cleared.

On May 21st B & B Escomame seed was featured in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

Janet Carson’s article provided great information about the value of vegetable soybeans and how they can be grown in home gardens. A big thanks to Janet, Celia Storey, and the Democrat-Gazette for this educational article helping folks learn how easy it is to grow their own protein. B & B Escomame edamame seeds can be planted in this zone until about July 5th.

May 19th-20th I was fortunate to spend time with the Arkansas Master Gardeners at their annual conference in Springdale. The Arkansas Master Gardeners are a tremendous group of volunteer leaders who improve the world we live in through their community service.

My friend Lynn and I were so encouraged by conference participants who stopped by to taste our Black Soybean Salsa and to discuss the value of plant-based protein in their diets.

Where would we be without our family and friends?

So grateful for both.

Looking over the past month I treasure the time I have spent with so many people who have been a part of my life over many years.

From the wedding to the weather to time spent with colleagues talking soy; the month of May has been a grand whirlwind.

Thanks for checking in on us.

I don’t want you to miss a thing!

Blessings,

~Karen
